James Michael Warriner

Heaven has gained another soul with the passing of James (Jimmie) Michael Warriner of Wentzville, Missouri. Loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Jim had recently celebrated his 80th birthday, and so took his leave peacefully in his sleep on July 26, 2023.

Jim was born in Ohio to parents James A. Warriner and Mary Catherine  Warriner. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Irma Warriner, and two daughters Terri (Jim) Rollings of Lonedell, Missouri, and Toni (Tom) Monton of Custer, Michigan: 3 grandchildren (Ashley, Cara and Jake) and five great grandchildren: sister Cathie Kowalski of Sebring, Florida, brother Todd Warriner and sister Beth Warriner.

He was preceded in death by his parents James A. Warriner and Mary Catherine (Presser) Warriner and his sister Pamela Brown.

Jim’s childhood was spent in Toledo, Ohio, where he and his two sisters were raised by their mother Mary Warriner. When her job at the Wabash Railroad relocated her to the St. Louis area in 1959, Jim also got a job at the Wabash Railroad, in the telegraph office. Jim and Irma met late summer of 1960 when he was riding a motorcycle and saw Irma on the back of another motorcycle, and he asked the man if Irma had a sister, and the man replied to Jim that Irma would never go out with someone like him. Boy, was he wrong! Jim and Irma were married in 1961, raising two daughters, together for 62 years, only parted by Jim’s passing. He said many times how lucky he was to have her for his wife.

Jim had many jobs over the years: painter, factory work, auto repair and body work, bartending, and was the area Snap-On tool dealer.  Jim and Irma owned several commercial rental properties. He enjoyed hunting, antique cars and motorcycles, wood working, welding, historical movies, books, and artwork. Jim will be remembered for his generous nature and his patriotism. He loved anything American and was proud to be an American.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life for family and friends will be scheduled at a later date.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution would please consider St. Judes, Shriners Hospital, or the Salvation Army.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”
