James T. Burke

BURKE, JAMES T. / Born March 26, 1953 and passed away on August 21st, 2022. Dear son of the late John E. and Jessie M. Burke. Dear brother of Patricia E. (Roger Hallam ) Burke, John M. (Betty) Burke, and Thomas D. (Mary) Burke. dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Jim played the harmonica and he enjoyed playing for anybody who would listen. When his body started failing him he could still play a couple of tunes now and then. His love for animals was unmatched.  The squirrels he fed on his front porch, his dog, his birds, and cats will all miss him.

Born and raised in the City of St. Louis he resided just a few blocks from where he grew up.  If you were in trouble he was the guy you wanted next to you. He would sacrifice himself without hesitation to help you. Jim was a legitimate tough guy with a big heart. He did not have an ounce of bully in him.

With sincere appreciation we thank Abbe Sudvarg, M.D. who was Jim’s primary care physician for many years. Dr. Sudvarg’s compassionate care helped Jim live beyond expectations. Dr. Sudvarg was more than a doctor to Jim, she was his friend.

We thank our cousin Michael who provided Jim with what he called, “The greatest time of my life.”

Since Jim never wanted to be the center of attention, the family has decided not to have any services associated with his passing. Anyone wanting to remember Jim with a donation to the Humane Society is greatly appreciated.
