Johnson, Jane (nee Harrington), fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, died at the age of 96 on March 2 . She was proceeded in death by her parents George Laurence Harrington and Mary Catherine Keefe Harrington. Raised in St Louis, she graduated from Kirkwood High School. Jane later married Elmer Quentin Johnson and subsequently gave birth to daughters Sherry and Jane. In 1957 Jane found herself in the role of a single parent with two teenage daughters. She did an exemplary job of instilling an appreciation of learning, the need for a moral compass, and the importance of charity in the live’s of her daughters. Shortly after her divorce, Jane returned to school and received her teaching degree from Harris Teachers College. She then went on to work through Special School District tutoring ill children in their home’s. Throughout her life Jane enjoyed gardening, bridge and traveling with some of her many friends. Her greatest moments of joy came in time spent with her family. In addition to her daughters Jane Johnson Hoeltzel (Gregory) and Sherry Johnson Tyree (the late Donald), Jane is survived by four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. Parc Provence, a dementia care facility, has been Jane’s home for that last ten years. Her family greatly appreciates the compassionate support and care given by the staff. Always one with a great sense of humor, she put a smile on everyone’s face when she declared with her typical hearty laugh , I have lost my marbles and I don’t mean some of them, I mean all of them. We will miss you Jane, Mom, Sam, Aunt Jane. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org/donate A private memorial mass will be held at a later date.
