Janet met the love of her life while on a mission trip to Alaska in 1956, a Texan by the name of Charlie Morris, who was in his middle year of seminary and on a mission trip as well. They married in 1957 at St. James Episcopal Church in South Pasadena. They and their three children lived full and happy years together in West Texas, Houston, TX, and St. Louis, MO where Charlie served as priest in Episcopal churches. Her children have fond memories of family life and long summer family vacations taken across the United States.
Janet was an art teacher at Jury Elementary School in the Hazelwood School district and retired from Garrett Elementary in 1997. She was loved by her students and fellow teachers. A fine artist, she painted and created art her whole life. She loved the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, art museums, botanical gardens, knitting, travel overseas, and travel to visit her relatives and grandchildren. She was a voracious reader and continued her reading with audiobooks in her last years. She had many special friends and group activities over the years, most recently her book club friends at Church of the Transfiguration and friends at Garden Villas in O’Fallon.
Janet is predeceased by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Charles H. Morris. She is survived by her sister, Penny (Bud) Reveley of Newport Beach, CA and her children Pamela (Frank) Puryear, Daniel (Natalie) Morris, and Paul (Patti) Morris, her seven grandchildren Philip Puryear, Mary Blythe (Reaves) Coker, Eric (Tess Kilmade) Morris, Katie Morris, Victoria (Ahna) Morris, Julia (Tom) Sowash, Andrew Morris, and her five great-grandchildren Marley, Alice, Olivia, Blair and Michael.
