Janet Keller Hall (nee Faires) of Oakville, St Louis, MO, formerly of Marine, IL, died on January 6, 2018 at Mercy Hospital.

Mrs. Hall was born December 2, 1930 in Highland, IL, daughter of Walton Hoffman Faires, who died September 23, 1978 and Helen Durbin Faires, who died January 20, 1984.

On March 10, 1951 she married Eugene Walter Keller at First Christian Church in Marine, IL. They were divorced in June 1983. He survives in Florissant, MO. On April 4, 1987, in Marine, she married Wilbur L. “Bud” Hall of Affton, MO. He survives in Oakville, St Louis, MO.

Mrs. Hall grew up in Marine, IL, graduated from Edwardsville, IL High School in 1948 and from Brown’s Business College in St Louis. She also attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and Meramec Community College in Kirkwood, MO. She was employed by Madison County, IL, Regional Superintendent of Schools office serving as administrative secretary and office manager when she retired in 1986 after 37 years.

Mrs. Hall was a member of First Christian Church at Marine serving as treasurer, deaconess, co-youth sponsor, Sunday School teacher and Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) President. She served on the Illinois Board of CWF in charge of state women’s retreats for four years and on the Church Women United of Illinois Board for one year. She served a term as treasurer of the Disciples Council of Greater St Louis, an organization of all of the Disciples of Christ churches in the Metro area.

After moving to Affton, she was a member of Affton Christian Church, serving as an elder, financial secretary, recording secretary, moderator of the membership department, member of the Prayer Group and President of the CWF, later known as Disciples Women. She also served as president and as secretary of the Southeast Gateway Area Disciples Women, encompassing churches in the Metro St Louis area.

Mrs. Hall was a Girl Scout, a member of 4-H, Madison County Rural Youth, Edwardsville-Drusilla Andrews Chapter of NSDAR, Treasurer of the Madison County Arts Council, International Hospitality Program at SIUE serving as president, starting a newsletter and entertaining international students from various countries in her home. After retirement, she was a member of the South County Older Residents Computer Club. She enjoyed volunteering, camping, cooking, traveling, boating, and genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her son, Walter Melvin Keller of Marine, IL.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Keller Loyet; grandson, Christopher Loyet; great-grandson, Hunter Loyet; great-granddaughter, Samantha Loyet; and sister, Dorothy (Wilbert) Witthaus.
