Janet Sue Coen
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Janet Sue Coen (Andrews), our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on May 2, 2019. She left us while sleeping peacefully at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St.Louis. She was in her 67th year of life.
Janet will be fondly remembered by family and friends as an avid reader, a distinguished seamstress and quilter, author, world traveler, amateur archeologist, business manager, proud patriot and loving mother. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family on her famous “Great Adventures”.
Born in Decatur, IL, eldest daughter of Lloyd and the late M. Jean Andrews (Myers). Beloved wife of S. Daniel Coen of Golconda, IL for over 48 years. Much loved mother of Brenda and Michael George of Springfield, MO, Melissa and Daniel LaRose of Illinois, Amy and Guido Schlabitz of Harrisburg, IL, Paul and Maggie Coen of Carbondale, IL and the late Carolyn Louise Coen of Mesa, AZ. Cherished grandmother of Quinton, Ryan, Sara and the late Mary Elizabeth George, Kirin and Kai Schlabitz, and Emerson LaRose. Great grandmother of Scarlett and Skylar George. Dearest sister of Sandra Jean and Allen Gookin of Scottsdale, AZ. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 with visitation at 4pm and service at 5:30pm at First United Methodist Church of Golconda. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice in lieu of flowers.
I love you mom and miss you more each day. I know you are looking down on us. I will try to make you proud. Give Mary and Carolyn an extra hug just from me. Always your #1 daughter
