Janis Maureen Midkiff (nee Berger)

Janis Maureen Midkiff (nee Berger), 72, affectionately referred to as Grandma Sugar, of High Ridge, MO, peacefully passed away on May 2, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones. She would always greet you with a bright smile and cheerful hello, whether she knew you or not, addressing other’s needs before her own.

Janis was born June 7, 1949, to Grant and Ruth Berger in the city of St. Louis. After graduating from Cleveland High School in 1967, she pursued a degree in business at Forest Park Community College, then worked in the finance, advertising, and security/high-tech surveillance industries before retiring in 2015. Always happy to give her time, her children fondly remember her volunteering with their activities, schools, scouting, and sports.  Her favorite pastime was traveling to see her grandkids and going on many great adventures with her family.

In 1996 she married Michael and they were married 25 years, while always welcoming members of her blended family with tremendous love and devotion.

Janis was predeceased by her father Grant J. Berger, mother Ruth Berger nee Allen, brother Grant A. Berger, brother-in-law Dale Baumann, stepson Michael Midkiff, Jr., stepdaughter Michelle Midkiff, and grandson Daniel Vidrine.

Janis was beloved wife to Michael Midkiff; devoted mother to Craig Driver (Kelly), Chrissy Driver, and stepdaughter Melissa Vidrine (Brian); sweet Grandma Sugar to Sebastian, Elise, Grant, and Cory Driver and Christopher (Felicita) Vidrine; wonderful great-grandmother to Genevieve, Vivienne, Carter, and Thomas Vidrine; cherished sister to Joyce Baumann nee Berger; and a dear aunt, great aunt, cousin, and dependable friend to many.

A celebration of life service will be held at Kirkwood Road Christian Church, 529 N. Kirkwood Road, Kirkwood, MO, at noon on May 28th, 2022, with visitation from 10:00am-12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, 1333 S. Mayflower Ave., Suite 400, Monrovia, CA 91016 or Forces for Food, P.O. Box 31462, Des Peres, MO 63131.
