Jeane Catherine Bristow (Ashby)

Jeane Catherine Bristow (Ashby), long time resident of Florissant, MO, passed away peacefully on August 14 at the age of 76.

Jeane was born on September 9, 1944 in LaPorte, IN to John and Louise Ashby (Cole). Jeane was married for almost 50 years to Dean Bristow of LaGrange, IL.

Jeane and Dean have three children, Christopher (Chris), Douglas (Doug) [Melissa], and Robin [Tim]. Jeane was raised on a dairy farm is Sedalia, MO and would joke that instead of riding horses they would ride cows. In Jeane’s younger years she worked for TWA, but her home and family were her true loves. She kept an immaculate home with a passion for decorating and a true talent for landscaping. She was tremendously skilled at cross stitch and the walls of her home are testament to her craft. She had so much pride and love for her beautiful yard and especially her flowerbeds. She was gentle, patient and kind. She was also determined and stubborn. She was the kind of mom and grandma that mothers strive to be. She looked forward to family traditions like visiting grandkids on holidays, making Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren, and making personalized cakes for her children’s birthdays. She had an ear for listening and always gave thoughtful advice and support to her children and friends. Jeane was an ever present comfort and partner to her husband, Dean, since their wedding on May 27, 1972. Their marriage was an example of companionship, mutual respect, and endearing love. Her constant presence in their home and yard will be missed each and every day.

Jeane is now reunited with her loved ones in heaven that preceded her in death – her parents John and Louise, her brother Jack, her friend Sharon and her precious cats Midnight and Molly. Jeane is survived by her husband Dean; all three children and their spouses; eight grandchildren – Cora, William, Jackson, Christian and Adeleine Schaum; Zoe, Lily and Naomi Bristow; and her beloved cat Kortney.

Jeane was so loved and will be greatly missed by many.

The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Donations in Jeane’s name can be sent to the shelter their cat, Kortney, was adopted from:
