Jeffrey Wippel

On Friday, February 26, 2021, Jeffrey Wippel, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 58.

Jeff was born on July 9, 1962 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Joe Wippel and Linda Hoskinds. He worked for 30 years at Orchid Orthopedics and inspired many with his perseverance and work ethic; beginning as their janitor and working his way up to General Manager of their Memphis branch. On September 5, 1992, he married Wendy Sowder Wippel. His two daughters were his pride and Joy. Sarah Elizabeth, a preschool teacher; and Abigail, a funeral director.

Jeffrey was a proud Patriot and served his country as a Marine. He loved Ohio State football and the Bengals even though the latter failed him so many times. Jeff also had a passion for music. He loved Classic Rock and loved sharing that passion for Neil Peart and Boston with his daughters. He also loved to build and fix things. He was an avid model builder and especially loved collecting and building tiny metal models of the Star Wars vehicles. He loved traveling with his family and had almost made it to all 50 states with them making it to 49. He was well known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, his kind and compassionate spirit and his many horrible dad jokes.

He is preceded in death by his mother and step-father and his father and step mother. He is survived by his wife, Wendy; his two children, Sarah Elizabeth and Abigail; his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 5th, 2021 at the Colonial Hills Church Hernando Campus on Monteith Ave. at 10 o’clock a.m.
