Jerry (Jewell) S. Germain

Jerry (Jewell) Sherman Germain
(1941 – 2017)
GERMAIN, Jerry (Jewell) Sherman 76, of St. Louis, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017. Jerry was the beloved husband of the late Linda Germain and dear son of the late Willard Germain and late Helen Germain (Winstead). He was the loving father of Lori (Cliff) Gould, Scott (Tara) Germain and the late Julie Germain. He was the beloved grandpa of Calli Germain and Jared Germain. Jerry was the dear brother of Bill (Glenda) Germain, Joyce Germain and the late Marvin and David Germain. Dear brother-in-law to Eugene Little, James (Estee) Little and the late Charlie Little. He was a loving uncle to Barb Little, Bridget (Steve) Prosise, Carrie (Evan) Shaw, Nick Germain, Chris Germain and the late Jason Germain. He was the dear great uncle of Cameron Germain, Gavin Prosise, Amelia Shaw and the dear late Theodore Shaw. He was a dear friend to many. Jerry was a graduate of McKinley High School Class of 1960 . It was at McKinley where he met Linda. He was on the football team and she was a cheerleader. Not long after high school Jerry and Linda married forming a bond and a partnership that couldn’t be broken. Jerry devoted his whole life to coaching. He coached the game he loved at Chester, Berkeley, Dupo, Windsor, Waterloo and Columbia. He not only taught his players the game of football, but taught them the meaning of life. In 1977 Jerry and Linda started Jerry Germain Rides. Out of all things Jerry accomplished in his life, the best accomplishment was being a grandpa. He loved watching his grandkids play sports, and visiting the concession stand for a popcorn and coke. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and we know he is spending eternity with the love of his life, Linda. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

The burial of ashes will be a private service for immediate family in St. Trinity Cemetery.

My deepest sympathies to Lori & Jerry Scott on the loss of their father. Jerry was an incredibly wise, kind & wonderful man.

I have fond memories of him growing up with the Germains on Massabielle Dr.

Years later I would often run into him at the carnivals in Eureka. He always greeted me with a smile and big hug. He was an inspiration to all & I know will be dearly missed by his family.

    Prayers to the entire family.

    Love, Terry Bequette

Sending love and hugs to the entire family. I’m sorry I wasn’t aware that Linda was already in Heaven waiting for him. Great couple! Easy to love those two.

Dear Germain Family, my sincere condolences with the loss of your loved one. I guess i was 13 when I first met Gerry, some 60 years ago. Gerry was one of those people that you were proud to know and equally as proud to be known by him. I thought he would always be there. I know that he loved his family tremendously and that you will miss him always.

My prayers for peace and comfort for you all.

    Columbia Alum 00′

Never played for Jerry, but always welcomed and respected his presence in the Columbia Football Community regardless. Played for Scotty and got to know Jerry a little bit after college through Scotty and Tara. My fondest memory of Jerry is you meet him once, you remember him for a life time. Incredibly wise, kind, fair, and smart man.

    You will be missed Jerry.
    Family is in my thoughts.

So sorry to hear about Jerry’s passing. He was my first cousin. I had the privilege of meeting him many many years ago when I was 11 or 12 years old,
When we visited my Uncle Willard and Aunt Helen in St. Louis. My mother mollie Germain Persons was the sister of Willard and Jerry’s aunt.

I’m the last son of David Germain. While I never really met my father or his family I believe they were loving and caring. I send my prayers to the family of Jerry but also to my dad, David. I dont know if anyone knows of me and my brother Charles David but we always kept y’all in our thoughts and hearts.
