Joan C. Gilmore

Joan Cecilia (Walsh) Gilmore, Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, Thursday, November 2, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Raymond Poth Gilmore of St. Louis; her son James Michael (Bridgit) Gilmore of Killdeer, Illinois; and daughter Colleen Rae Gilmore (Loretta Haggard) of Kirkwood, Missouri; sister Kathleen (late Richard) Kissel of St. Louis; and grandchildren Angeline, Jonathan, Amanda, and Andrew; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her twin brother Joseph Walsh and his wife Judy.

Joan was born in St. Louis to Joseph and Cecilia (nee Smith) Walsh. She was a compassionate, fun-loving woman, with a great sense of humor. She never knew a stranger. She had an early love for nursing and went back to school in her 50s to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She loved gardening, reading, traveling, and dancing. Her faith was very important to her and she loved praying the Rosary. She was a talented cook and loved to decorate and entertain. She loved her family dearly, and was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

A service and celebration of Joan’s life will take place at:

Peace United Church of Christ, 204 East Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves, MO 63119, on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at 3:30 pm, followed by a celebration in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers her family requests donations to BJC Hospice/Evelyn’s House at 1935 Belt Way Dr., Overland, MO 63114, or your favorite charity in her memory.

She will forever be in our hearts and memories. Rest in peace, Joan.
