Joan Lois Starling
Joan Lois Starling (nee Holmes) passed away peacefully at the St. Louis Altenheim on August 5, 2019. She was 90 years young. Joan worked at Washington University in the body donation program for over 30 years during which time she made many lifelong friends. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Gertrude and Charles Holmes, and husband, William Henry Starling. She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Doris Hohnstrater, her daughters, Ronda (Daniel) Andrews and Donna Barbier, her four grandchildren, Emily (Ryan Weis) Andrews, Nathan (Christina) Andrews, Adam Andrews, Philip (Kate) Barbier, five great grandchildren, nephews, cousins, friends. Joan’s adamant wishes were for no memorial or service, therefore, she will be quietly interred at Jefferson Barracks alongside her late husband. Joan was always happiest when she could help a friend or offer a big smile to someone who needed it. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family would ask that you do a kind deed for someone in her memory. She will be dearly missed.
