Johanna Marie Prinz
Johanna Marie Prinz (Jo), 81, died on June 9, 2020, at St. Louis University Hospital with family by her side after suffering a stroke. Jo was born on March 12, 1939, in St. Louis, MO. The daughter of Adelyn and Edward Prinz.
Jo was raised in Webster Groves, MO, and graduated from Webster High School in 1957 and Washington University St. Louis in 1961. Jo spent many years living and raising her family in Webster Groves. Jo spent over 40 years in the wholesale garment business as a fashion designer and teacher at Palm Beach Community College. She moved to West Palm Beach in her late forties to live out her dream of living in Florida, where she ran a hat business with her then-husband Stuart Reinhold (deceased). She loved to travel, dance, and stay active. She relished many trips traveling to Paris with her students and Mexico for the hat business. She moved back to St. Louis later in life to care for her aging mother and to be around her daughters and grandchildren. Her love of the arts kept her days full of drawing, painting, and practically sewing anything. She adored being surrounded by her family and many life-long friends.
Johanna was preceded in death by her parents and is reunited in peace with them now. She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Schweiss (Jose Andina) and Susannah Livingston (Mark), her grandchildren, Danny, Stephanie, Nichole, Addy, Eliza, and many friends. In lieu of flowers, send a donation to your favorite charity that supports the arts. A graveside service will occur at 1 p.m. on June 16, 2020.
Johanna was one of my very first girlfriends in Jr. High. I met her and her parents and we had many parties at her Mom and Dad’s house. We had stayed in touch over the years and met once in Florida and many times in Webster Groves. I always envied her drawing talent, she could draw anything and make it look beautiful. She was a very special friend, and I will miss her terribly. Rest in Peace my dear friend, we will meet again on the “other side”. With sincere sympathy, Bonnie Tipton McAtee
