John Counts

John Douglas Counts peacefully passed away on September 11, 2024, at Mercy Jefferson Hospital at the age of 73. After a valiant struggle with heart disease, diabetes, and peripheral arterial disease, he found eternal rest. Born on August 19, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri, to David L. and Norma Jean Counts (Kuntz), John Douglas Counts was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, William and Delphia (Hart) Kuntz and Cecil & Liddie (Barton) Counts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna Dee Counts (Chasten).

Forever loved by his children; Tonya (Peter) Schmidt, Sean (Jennifer) Counts; both of DeSoto, MO; Kathleen (Mitchel) Falk of San Antonio, TX. His grandchildren, Victoria Renee Drinnin, James Falk, Madyson Falk, John Schmidt, Dalton Falk, David Counts, and Logan Falk. His Aunt Ann Stafford, Uncle Richard (Yvonne) Counts, Aunt Barbara Tarrien, and many loved cousins.

John worked as an Instructor at Vatterott Technical School and an HVAC Technician until retirement.

John had an amazing sense of humor. He loved Sunday drives with his wife on the backroads, telling stories of the family and ancestors to his daughter, rebuilding cars and hunting with his son, making his grandchildren laugh with his humor, fishing with his friends, and walking through the woods down on the farm. He was an excellent woodworker and made cherished keepsakes for his family. He was much loved by his family and friends and loved them in return. A celebration of life will be held at the Desoto Community Center, October 20th , 2pm – 5pm.
