John Edward Whitlock

June 7th, 1955 – May 19th, 2025

John Edward Whitlock was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, a storyteller, a music lover, a passionate conversationalist—and someone who never met a stranger. Whether he was telling a wild story, arguing politics, or making people laugh, John was usually the loudest voice in the room and always the heart of it.

He was born on June 7, 1955, and passed away on May 19, 2025, at 9:15 a.m., surrounded by love (and probably still talking).

He is survived by his children: Erica, Jonathan, and Ashley Whitlock; his grandchildren: Macie, McKenzie, Bryzan, Michaela, Aiden, Wyatt, Ryker, Oliver, and Everlynn; his brother Robert Whitlock and wife Kathy; several nieces and nephews; his siblings, Susan and her husband Kevin Nolte, and Larry Harnetz; his aunt Georgia Bennett; and his first wife and lifelong friend, Terry Bacott.

John taught us that family isn’t just about blood—it’s about love, loyalty, and showing up. He built a family out of deep, lasting friendships. His chosen family includes Bird Johnson, Bob Kunkel, Chandra Guthrie and Troy Hollman, Mike Sanders, Roger Roever, and Steven Whittington.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Heather; his wife Roxanne; his mother Christine Davidson; his sister Debbie Blotter; Aunt Maudie; Uncle Leon; Uncle Gray; and his dear friends Carol Busby and Jack Whittington.

John loved movies, music, politics, and the company of good friends. He never missed a chance to share a joke, a song, or a random fact you didn’t ask for—but always remembered.

As Bob said, “He touched more people’s lives in one lifetime than most would in five.”

We know he’s in heaven now—singing, performing, cracking jokes, sharing random facts and trivia, and playing with his youngest daughter, Heather. Life here will be a little quieter and a lot less funny without him.

John’s Celebration of Life will be held at Andre’s South Banquets & Catering

June 10th, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m

Please let his children or Terry know if you can attend.
