John William Novotny passed away peacefully in his sleep on 2/24/2026 at the age of
85. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on 10/5/1940.
Predeceased by: John Timothy Novotny (Father); Seraphine Ann Novotny (Mother);
Jacqueline Lee Novotny (Sister); and Sateia Rene Walker (Granddaughter).
Lovingly Remembered by: Mary Alice Wisniewski Novotny; Theresa (Tere) Rene
Novotny Walker (Daughter) with Daniel Matern; Tamara (Tammy) Marie Novotny
(Daughter) with Chuck Foster; David Lee Mathew Walker Jr. (Grandson); Sari Ann
Summers (Niece) with Benny Summers; as well as Johnny and Timothy Summers
(Great Nephews).
Johnny graduated from Cleveland High School and started working at Gasen’s
Pharmacy in St. Louis Hills. His next stop was to Placke Chevrolet in the Parts
Department. Johnny continued working his way up, progressing at multiple Chevrolet
dealerships. He then opened John Novotny Chevrolet, conquering a lifelong dream and
making his family so proud.
He loved his cars since he was young. They were always fast and decked out, whether
they were his every day or show cars. He participated and achieved in countless car
shows across the region.
He was an avid sports fan of the St. Louis Cardinals both football and baseball. But, his
favorite team was the St. Louis Blues. So many amazing memories and friendships
were created. Johnny was always the life of the party and always included his blasting
R&B music, dancing, and of course, some totties.
But, what he loved most and was most passionate about was animals, both wild and
domesticated. He and his family had horses, dogs, cats, and birds. There wasn’t an
animal he did not adore.
To honor his love for animals, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a
donation to: Gateway Pet Guardians in East St. Louis, IL.
Be sure to click “I’d like to dedicate this gift” button to show the family that a donation was made in Johnny’s name.
