Joseph (Bud) Prokop

August 7, 1930 to April 12, 2021

Born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Rudolf and Esther (Wolf) Prokop. Survived by Barbara (Lindvall) Prokop, wife of 68 years, his children: Patricia (Mark) Williams of St. Charles, Missouri; Steven (Janice) Prokop of Dundee, Oregon; and John (Melaine) Prokop of Malvern, Iowa; and his grandchildren: Bennett James, Kailey James, Kathryn Williams, Megan (John) Greenwood, Joseph Prokop, and Tyler Prokop.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Carolyn Ugalde; and his granddaughter Allison James.

His career was spent in banking and supporting his community in Griswold, Iowa. He was fortunate to retire early and spent these years exploring all 50 states. During his retirement, he resided in Texas and Arizona before moving to Chesterfield, Missouri. His volunteer work included over 7000 hours with the Surprise, Arizona Police Department.

A family memorial service was held.

Memorials may be made to The St. Louis Chapter of The American Parkinson’s Association; St. Andrew’s Charitable Foundation of St. Louis, or the Cass County Historical Museum in Griswold, Iowa.

    I was fortunate to meet Bud during his visits and move to St. Louis. Although a quiet man he was so nice and funny too. I know he will be missed very much by his family and friends. Rest in peace Bud.
