Joseph Robert Chu, age 50, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully at DePaul Hospital on November 2, 2026.

He was born in St. Louis, MO, on September 18, 1976. A natural charmer and jokester, Joe loved making people laugh and had a gift for putting everyone around him at ease. He enjoyed playing darts, cooking, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was especially fond of the memories made with his father and with his mother before her passing.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mai Thi Chu (née Vu), who passed away on March 24, 2023.

Joe is survived by his father, Diep Van Chu, and his many siblings: brothers Duc Van Chu, Dat The Chu (Beckey), Doan The Chu (Christina), Doan The Chu (Emily), and Robert Joseph Chu (Hata); and sisters Uyen Tu Chu (Phill) and Thy Uyen Young (nee Chu). His nephews: Brendan, Blake, Markus (Morgan), Nicklaus, Jackson, Tyler (Sami), Hunter (Bayley), Max, and Zain; and his nieces: Thao (Nate), Ana, Amber, Atari, and Lejla. His grandnephews Khai and Malcolm, and grandnieces Baylor and Isla. Uncles: Binh Vu and Bon Vu (Ann); aunt Ha Vu; and cousins Corey Vu, Kyle Vu, Paul Tang, and Stephanie Nguyen, alongside many extended family members and friends.

A service to honor and celebrate Joe’s life will be held at St. Louis Cremation
