Joseph E. Heneberry
Age 88, Died: Dec. 2, 2018. Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Heneberry. Father of Joseph E. Heneberry Jr. (Pauline), and Mary Susan Brandt (Robert). Grandfather of Joseph E. Heneberry III (Kelsey) and Shana R. Kragel (Clinton).
Joe was born and raised on a farm in Central Illinois, near Bethany. He was one of the last generation of pupils to attend a one-room country grade school for eight years. He was a graduate of Bethany High School, where he was a 4-year letterman in football, and held the school record in track for the 440 yd dash. After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1952, Joe joined the United States Marine Corps. He entered the officer Candidate Program, and served as an Infantry Officer in the Marines during the Korean War era.
Joe moved to St. Louis after his service, and worked as a Livestock Buyer at the St. Louis Independent Meat Packing Company. During this time, he promoted to Captain in the the United States Marine Reserves. Joe then became a Partner in the Murnane Mirror & Glass Company for 20+ years. The last 20 years of his career were spent as a top Sales Rep for a national glazing company, where he was awarded a trip to Europe for he and his Wife. Joe was a 60 year student of antique firearms, a member of several gun clubs, and enjoyed his weekly breakfasts with “the guys”. He was gifted with many talents, a quick wit, and always had a smile. Joe was a true Patriot. He loved God, Country, the Marines, football and his Irish heritage. Most of all, he loved his family. Some of his greatest joys were their many vacations to Florida and Michigan.
Services: A private memorial service and burial will be held on Saturday December 8, 2018 at St. Isidore Church & Cemetery in Bethany Il where generations of his family are laid to rest.
Joe will be remembered and loved forever.
