Jude Alan Pauli

Jude Alan Pauli, age 88, of St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2023.

Jude is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol (Skelly) Pauli; his children, Karyn Harrelson (Rick), Laura Wulf, Mike Pauli (Kate), and Greg Pauli (Jessica); grandchildren, John II, Emma, Gregory, Georgia, Evan, Ava, Jude, Sean, and Sebastian; half-siblings, Al Pauli, Teresa Pauli, Ted Pauli, and Lisa Petrich.

Jude was born in St. Louis on Christmas Day in 1934 to Al and Ruth (Bovard) Pauli. He attended the University of Missouri at Columbia and earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. At the age of 26, he met Carol Skelly and quickly knew that he had found his mate. They married December 2, 1961.

Jude established his career as Chief Engineer at Alco Controls, a division of Emerson Electric. During his tenure there, he received seven United States patents for his refrigeration valve designs. Additionally, he often consulted with their international department, helping them answer design questions without disclosing trade secrets. Colleagues shared that there wasn’t an international customer that would come to St. Louis and not spend time with Jude.

In 1968, Jude and Carol welcomed their first of four children. They fondly recall him as a dedicated father who devoted himself to his family. They gratefully appreciate the priority he placed on their education and the encouragement they received from him to develop their gifts and talents. More importantly, they treasure their loving home led by parents wholly committed to one another.

Jude enjoyed oil painting for many years and his artwork adorned the walls of their home. After retirement, he honed his skills behind a camera lens as he traveled with Carol to many memorable destinations. Creating photo slideshows was also a favorite hobby of his, which he shared with others to help them mark their special events. Most notably, Jude and Carol demonstrated their passion for those in need by faithfully sharing many years of volunteer service in the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Their commitment to serving others displayed the love of Christ to many, and its impact will last well beyond their lifetime.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00am on Saturday, May 13th. It will be held at St. Raphael the Archangel Church located at 6040 Jamieson Ave in St. Louis. A time of visitation and remembrance will precede the service beginning at 9:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider the gift of a mass or a contribution to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E108927&id=4
