Judith Redshaw

Judith Jeanne Redshaw (Harris)
December 23, 1934 – February 22, 2026

Judith Jeanne Redshaw passed peacefully on February 22, 2026, at Laclede Groves Hospice in St. Louis, surrounded by comfort and care.

Judith was born in 1934 in Denham Springs, Louisiana, to Billie Day and Clyde Harris, the middle of five children in a family that faced hardship early in life. During part of her youth, she lived with her beloved grandmother in Mississippi, a woman who deeply influenced her and to whom Judith remained devoted throughout her life.

From an early age, Judith demonstrated exceptional intelligence, ambition, and determination, skipping two grades and enrolling at Louisiana State University at just sixteen years old. She earned her degree in Business Education, and later completed her master’s degree.

Her professional life reflected both discipline and bold reinvention. After serving as Dean of Women and Vice Principal in the Catholic school system in Louisiana, Judith took flying lessons in her thirties — a decision that transformed her life. What began as curiosity became a remarkable aviation career. She flew commercially, working with the City of New Orleans, DHL, and FlightSafety, before being hired by Boeing as a 747 and 777 aircraft flight instructor.

In the later years of her Boeing career, Judith developed a Cockpit Resource Management program and traveled internationally, training pilots from airlines around the world. She took great pride in her work and in forging a path for women in aviation.

After retiring from Boeing, Judith moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she built a home on the water and immersed herself in community leadership. She became deeply involved in Hancock County, serving as President of the Chamber of Commerce, sitting on the board of a regional hospital, and operating a small business. Never far from the skies she loved, Judith continued flying her Cessna 182 for many years.

In recent years, Judith relocated to assisted living at Laclede Groves in St. Louis to be closer to her daughter Jeanne and family.

Judith is survived by her children: Jeanne Maggiore and her sons Troy Phelps and Tyler Phelps, Julie Maggiore Bradley and her husband Glen Bradley, John Maggiore and his wife Marta Scatena and their children Chiara and Gabriel. She is also survived by five great grandchildren via her grandson Tyler and his wife Rachel, and by her sisters, Kathleen Trieschmann and Elira Harris.

Judith lived a life defined by intelligence, determination, independence, and continual reinvention. She will be remembered for her accomplishments, and the extraordinary path she carved through education, aviation, and community service.
