Karen Green Andrews

Karen Green Andrews

September 3, 1957 – November 3, 2026

Karen Jean Green Andrews died on the morning of November 3, 2026 in the loving home of her son. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joan Serth Graves and Raymond Graves.

She is survived by her ex-husband and friend, George Andrews, children, Daniel Green [Jessica],  Claire Gerson [Caleb], McKenna Hemmann [Greg], and grandchildren, Avery Green, Corbin Green, Vera Hemmann, and Ellis Hemmann. Karen will always be lovingly referred to as “Oma” by her grandchildren.

Karen had a rare gift for connection, effortlessly turning strangers into friends wherever she went. Her adventurous, wild spirit and extroverted nature made her easy to love. Karen was silly, fun, and could coax anyone into a kitchen dance party or a shot of tequila.

She was known for her love of animals and spent many years living in Texas where she rescued hundreds of feral cats. While in Texas, she co-founded the Lone Star Pepper Company and refined her 1st place Chili Pepper Award winning peach salsa. Karen’s favorite past time was cooking her favorite recipes and trying out new dishes. Her family and friends can attest that it was impossible to have just ONE helping of Karen’s masterful cooking.

More than anything, she loved being a mother and grandmother. Gift giving was her love language, but she always made time to get on the floor to play blocks, read, or do crafts with her grandchildren.

She was a collector of silly puppets and costumes and never missed an opportunity to wear them to surprise her family and friends. Karen enjoyed making and gifting her crochet, tie-dye, and pottery projects.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Stray Rescue of St. Louis in her name, Karen Green Andrews.
