Katherine Dolores Wich Vieth
June 15, 1932 -June 8, 2025
Somewhat reluctantly, Kathy (aka Katie and long ago, Bootsie) departed this world for whatever lies next, just a week shy of age 93. She was the daughter of the late Robert B. Wich and Katherine Burke Wich; the sister of the late Robert T. Wick (Gini); former spouse of the late Richard V. Vieth; sister-in-law of Mary (John) Malawey, the late Jeanne (Keith) Mertens, and the late Peggy (Ron) Huston; and the longtime companion of the late Edward D. Betlach. She leaves behind her children: Vicki (Dave) Kozeny, Erich Vieth (Beverly Tronicek), Jan Vieth (Dave Politte), Kathy (Steve) Albers, Angie Vieth (Arthur Goodwin). Her grandchildren: Monica (Dave) Jay, Becki (the late David) Null, Lauren Kozeny, Daniel and Christine Politte, JuJu and Charlotte Vieth, Natalie Albers, and Henry Goodwin. Her great-grandchildren: Austin, Jacob, Legend, and Rhyan Null, and Vera and Eleanor Jay. She had many loving nieces and nephews and close friends, and the children of her closest friends also became her friends.
Her family is extremely thankful for the many, many wonderful people who cared for her during the past three years in the assisted living and memory care areas at The Clarendale, as well as the dedicated team with Solace Hospice.
Kathy was a longtime volunteer at the James S. McDonnell USO. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the USO (https://www.uso.org/donate/missouri) or to the charity of your choice would be welcomed.
We will gather to remember her at The Clarendale of St. Peters (10 DuBray Drive, St. Peters, MO) on Saturday, June 14 at 2 pm in the Belvedere Room (arrival between 1:30 and 2).
Kathy always welcomed those around her with genuine happiness and a warm smile. Rob and I have wonderful memories of her whether in VA, her house, the Kozeny home or at Clarendale. She will be missed by those who knew her, loved her, and called her family. I’d do hope she and her big brother were able to embrace again and he refer to her as “Bootsie”!
Love to all the family –
Val Black
It’s always too soon to say goodbye to someone so dear. I only know of Kathy in her later years through Vicki, but it seems to me that she lived her life to the fullest and loved others very well. Her grand legacy is a large circle of loving family and friends and all the lives they touch. I pray you all will be comforted and uplifted in this time of loss.
Sincerely,
Connie Wakefield
Eric, I am so sorry to hear this, but what a wonderful life! You and your family will have countless stories to share for years to come! It is never easy losing a loved one, but your memories keep them with you! 💜🙏🏻💜
