Kathryn Ann Sheffer (nee) Henley passed away peacefully after a mercifully short battle with
cancer on September 20, 2025 at the age of 78.

Kathy was born in Washington, DC on January 2nd, 1947. She was the daughter of the late
Vincent Henley and Helen Pena.

Kathy developed her love of spicy food as a child in the desert southwest, first in Las Cruces,
NM and then in El Paso, TX. She moved with her family to Fenton, MO as a teenager. After
high school, Kathy enlisted in the US Army and trained as a dental assistant. She was
stationed at Valley Forge General Hospital where she met her husband Edd Sheffer. They were
married and moved to Perry Township, PA where they started their family before eventually
divorcing. Kathy returned to Fenton, MO after her boys were grown.

Kathy was a woman of faith, raised in the Catholic Church and later a member of Concord
Presbyterian Church where she loved teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. If you
followed Kathy on Facebook, you know that she loved her morning coffee and paper (outside
weather permitting), providing a daily weather update (she loved the sun and hated snow), and
spending time with her friends shopping, going out to eat and playing dominoes.

Kathy is survived by her sons Patrick ‘Bert’ Sheffer of Rimersburg, PA and Scott (Julie) Sheffer
of Cincinnati, OH and her beloved grandchildren Eyon Sheffer of Rimersburg, PA; Matthew
Sheffer of Indianapolis, IN; Kaci Sheffer and Benjamin Sheffer, both of Cincinnati, OH. She is
also survived by her brothers Vince (Linda) Henley of Anacortes, WA and Tom (Theresa)
Henley of Sappington, MO; her longtime companion Joe DeLeon of Fenton, MO; and numerous
cherished nieces and nephews, Christina (Kyle) Nelson, Stephen Henley (Kevin O’Brien),
Michael (Ashley) Henley and Zachary Henley to name a few.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Helen, as well as her sister, Mary
Pena.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St Andrews at Francis Place in
Eureka, MO for the companionship and excellent care while Kathy was a resident; to the
neurosurgical team at St Louis University Hospital for their amazing skill and dedication; and to
the caregivers at Solace Hospice for their comfort in the most trying times.

Kathy will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO on November
21st, 2025 at 2:00 PM. A celebration of life for family and friends will follow.
