Kathy Eigenseher

Kathy (Katharina) Eigenseher (Beirith), 89, passed away at her long-time home in Chesterfield, MO on December 19, 2019, surrounded by her sons and caring friends.

Loving wife of the late John ‘Johann’ Eigenseher and patient mother to John and Robert. A loving Grandmother to John Michael and Jeffrey. Kathy adored her four great-grandchildren: Tyler, Matthew, Ezra and Vivian. Kathy is also preceded in death by her daughter (Bernadette Eigenseher) and eight siblings.

Kathy was born in Marienfeld, Ukraine on March 28, 1930, daughter of Jakob and Elisabeth Beirith (Mumber). She married her “sweetie” John ‘Johann’ Eigenseher on December 26, 1948, in Fallersleben, Germany. In 1952, the two of them made the long and difficult journey by Troopship “General R. M. Blatchford” to the United States with their sons. They settled in Red Bud, IL, living at the Ruma Convent until they moved to St. Louis, MO in 1956. Kathy was proud to become a citizen of the United States on June 1, 1962.

Kathy retired from her job as a Food Service Manager at Maryville University to spend her time doing the things she loved…baking, gardening and canning their fresh produce. But most of all, Kathy enjoyed time with her grandchildren and being an attentive wife to John. John and Kathy danced their way through 69 years and 5 months of marriage until John died on May 25, 2018.

No formal services will be held as the family is planning an intimate gathering in memory of Kathy.
