Kimberly Y. Bell
Kimberly Bell, lovingly known as “Captain K,” was born on June 3, 1966, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Joyce Sims and Joseph Bell. She was the second oldest of four children and shared a close and cherished bond with her siblings: Anthony Bell (“Tony”), Shawn Bell (“Puff”), and Latrisia Spellman (“2C”).
Kimberly was a woman whose presence could never be overlooked. Anyone who met her would quickly recognize that she was truly the life of the party. With a personality larger than life, a heart full of love, and an energy that could light up any room, Kim had a special way of making people laugh, smile, and feel welcome. If there was music, family, friends, and a good time, Kim was right in the center of it all. One of her favorite sayings was, “I like to kick it,” and she lived those words fully, bringing joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories wherever she went.
Kim loved spending time with her family, engaging in playful banter, and creating moments that left lasting smiles. She was known for always being beautifully put together truly best dressed from head to toe radiating confidence and style. Fashion was one of her passions, and she took pride in her appearance, from her stylish outfits to her ever changing hairstyles and color that reflected her bold and vibrant spirit.
Above all else, Kimberly loved her family deeply. She was incredibly proud of her children and found great joy in watching them grow. She shared a special bond with her daughter and carried immense pride in the woman she became. From shopping sprees to road trips, they created everlasting memories together.
One of the most beautiful aspects of Kimberly’s life was the love she had for her sons. She shared a particularly close and undeniable bond with her youngest son, who was truly the apple of her eye. The way she spoke of him with pride in her voice and warmth in her smile made it clear just how deeply she cherished him.
Her love extended to all of her sons in a way only a mother can give unconditional, unwavering, and full of pride. She would often say, with a radiant glow, that her boys were so handsome. To her, they were not just her children; they were her heart walking outside of her body. She celebrated them, protected them, and loved them fiercely. That love not only shaped who they are but will continue to live on through them forever.
Kimberly’s love grew even deeper when she became a grandmother a role she cherished wholeheartedly. Her grandsons, Zion and Zander Sims, affectionately known as “the twins,” quickly became her everything. She treasured every smile, every moment, and every opportunity to shower them with love. Though her family wishes for more time, they find comfort in knowing how deeply she embraced and treasured her role as “Grandma.”
Kimberly is survived by the love of her life, Ronald Bryant; her children, Deven Washington (Ayanna and four beloved granddogs), Xavier Sims (Zion and Zander Sims), and Raivion Bryant. She also leaves behind a loving legacy through her nieces and nephews: the late Danielle Ledbetter (Lamiere, Lamori, Dream), Jaszmin Clacks (Jerzie Clacks), Antonio Clay, De’Adrion Spellman (Amir and Deuce Spellman), Shawn Bell Jr., and Destin Bell, along with a host of extended family members and lifelong friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Kimberly fought a courageous battle with strength and grace. Her life was filled with laughter, love, style, and unforgettable moments. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her smile, her voice, her humor, and her beautiful energy will never be forgotten.
“Captain K” leaves behind not only cherished memories but a lasting legacy of love, resilience, and joy that will continue to shine through generations to come.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
