    Dear Kris,
I first met Kris 25 years ago during one of her favorite projects “The Missouri Showcase”. For several days she invited Tour Operators from all over the country sharing her deep knowledge of her beloved adopted state. Upon meeting Kris, we immediately bonded and our common love of history and travel brought our spirits close and this has never diminished.
“Our Fearless Leader” also had a passion
    regarding The Westward Expansion.
We traveled the entire Oregon Trail which
began in St.Louis and ended at the coast
of Oregon. Also, we traveled the many
miles up the Missouri River, in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark ending again
at the Pacific Ocean. Traveling with my
friend and mentor we got to know
each other very well not to mention
our shared ideals and dreams of travel.
We also enjoyed seeing each other at annual travel trade shows where she met my husband Matt and as was her way, welcomed him too, into the travel community. They too became friends.
At Christmas we looked so forward to reading her amazing annual “EPIC”.
You will be in our hearts forever.

Kris, may you Rest In Peace dear friend.
    Love, Mary & Matt Descy

Kris became an important mentor when I embarked on a tourism career in 1992. Over the years she became a friend and trusted source for advice on how to market my destination more effectively. She was an incredible ambassador for Missouri, her legacy lives on in our tourism industry. On a personal note, my husband took her for a hot air balloon ride for her 50th birthday. It was an honor to help fulfill one of her bucket list items. Fly high and well, Kris. May you find gentle winds and soft landings.

I hired Kris for the copywriting job at KGRC radio in Hannibal in 1977. We became fast friends, and stayed long-distance friends, and shared a couple of vacations together. She always remembered my birthday with great cards, and I looked forward to her suggestions for books and movies in her Christmas letter. We last spoke in May when she was at St. Sophia’s. When I called her cell and it was disconnected, I feared the worst. I’ll always remember fondly her sense of humor and her deep love for her nieces and nephews as well as her love of travel and for the state of Missouri!
