Laura Jane Corsi Fraundorf

The Story of Laura Jane Corsi Fraundorf

02.25.1956 – 09.24.2024

Mama, Noni, Laura, Mrs. Fraundorf, Mamacita, Laura Jane, Aunt Laura, Mom —

Laura was as radiant as she was resilient— a fierce, brilliant, passionate, vibrant, strong, generous, beautiful soul— an incredibly loving mother, Noni (grandmother), wife, sister, aunt, daughter, cousin, friend and educator.

As a dedicated speech and language pathologist, Laura profoundly impacted the lives of countless children at Rossman Elementary School, transforming their speech with her exceptional guidance and expertise. She consistently went above and beyond, not only helping her students improve their communication skills but also empowering them to build the confidence they needed to find their voices.

Through her humor, kindness, and love, she touched the lives of so many. With her remarkable intellect, skillset, and exceptional work ethic, she inspired and motivated those around her, both students and educators alike. She made a lasting impact on the other teachers, turning colleagues into true friends. Laura brightened their days and offered unwavering support during some of their toughest, most intense life moments.

Laura’s love for seeing the beauty in everything colored her life. She adored bright pink, cherished flowers and plants and loved blasting music—dancing anywhere from her kitchen to her car to the dance floor at weddings. She savored the warmth of the sunshine in her signature chic sunglasses look and found peace in the sound of waves crashing at the beach.

Holidays were her favorite times, partially because she loved to decorate her beautiful home and host gatherings, but mostly because she got to share them with her family.

She treasured moments with her family—her best friend and husband, Francis Fraundorf; daughters, Ashley and Erin Fraundorf; sons-in-law, Matthew Moehlmann and Bryan Steele; and the light of her life— her “Noni babies” (grandchildren), Liam, Graham, and Charlotte Moehlmann, and Sloane Steele. She loved reading books with her Noni babies, singing songs, playing Go Fish and Uno, baking banana bread muffins and getting endless hugs, kisses and ugga muggas. When Laura was with her Noni babies, she sparkled with pure joy. Her love also extended to her sweet canine buddies, including Popcorn, PJ, Banjo, Finnegan, Nash, Duffy and Drake.  She loved taking them on walks, snuggling up to them on the couch and sneaking them little treats.

Laura’s daughters, Ashley and Erin, were her entire world. She devoted herself to nurturing, supporting and cheering them on, guiding them to become strong, independent women with a solid foundation and a bright future. She often shared with others that being a “girl mom” was the greatest gift of her life and she was endlessly proud of them.

Though state lines separated them often, Laura always maintained a very close bond with her sisters and brother—Theresa Corsi, Susan Willis, Marianne Corsi, Cathy Fletcher and Armand Corsi—staying in touch through phone calls, video chat, texts and visits. She always enjoyed spending time with them as well as her nieces, nephews and their families. She looked forward to receiving their holiday cards, photo updates and staying connected through social media.

Laura faced her battle with scleroderma, an autoimmune disease, with remarkable bravery, displaying incredible courage, determination and an unwavering love for her family. Her fierce desire to be with them fueled her fight every day, her strength and resilience felt by everyone who met her.

Laura’s family and friends are absolutely heartbroken by her passing. They carry the memory of her beautiful smile, contagious laughter and generous soul close to their hearts, living each day to the fullest in her honor.  Her legacy of kindness, resilience and vibrant joy will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Now at peace and likely sipping on a Diet Coke, singing and dancing to Old Time Rock and Roll or watching Friends, Laura is reunited with her brother, Armand Corsi, sister Marie Elizabeth; parents, Elizabeth Toohey Corsi and Armando Silvio Corsi; and cherished dogs, Popcorn, PJ, Nash and Drake.

Laura was the life of every party and true to her spirit, she did not want a traditional funeral. Instead, she wished for a celebration where her family and friends could come together in joy—sharing sweet stories, reminiscing on treasured memories and creating new ones together.  Please reach out to Laura’s daughters for details on her upcoming celebrations.

In lieu of flowers, Laura’s family invites you to plant flowers in your yard to spread a little extra brightness in the world, or consider a donation in her honor to Unicef or Save the Children— organizations prioritizing children and their education.
