LaVerne Christine Pierson Obituary

LaVerne Christine Pierson (nee Berres) 90, passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 15, 2026.  A cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, LaVerne’s life was defined by her dedication to family, her love for the Lord, and her generous and protective spirit.

LaVerne was married to her devoted husband, Norman Pierson, for 70 years before his passing in August of 2024. Together they nurtured a loving family, including their four children: N. Rodney Pierson, Greg (Janice) Pierson, Lisa (George) Oberfeld, and Steve Pierson.  LaVerne’s legacy also includes her grandchildren:  Sarah (Collin) Menkhus, Gregory Pierson, Tricia (Jeremy) Puentes, Amber Pierson, Zachary Oberfeld, Steven Pierson, and Matthew Pierson, as well as her great-grandchildren:  Catherine Menkhus, Maddyn Puentes, Maeryn Puentes, and Nico Puentes.

Each of them brought immense joy to her life.

Born on December 19, 1935, to Lillie and Robert Berres, LaVerne had three older siblings, Paul, Doyle, and Gwendolyn McCandless.  She married Norman Pierson on May 1st 1954, and together they built a loving family who enjoyed traveling together, mostly by car, and in later years, aboard cruise ships.

A memorial service to celebrate LaVerne’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026, with visitation at 10:00 and service at 11:00, with lunch to follow at Most Sacred Heart Church, Eureka; 350 E. 4th St., Eureka, MO  63025.  Interment afterwards at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

LaVerne, your legacy of love, laughter, faith, and adventure will forever inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have known you!
