Lawrence “BUD” Getz

Getz, Lawrence W. (Bud) 76, Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church was called to Heaven on Sunday, December 23, 2018. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 22, 1942 to the late Noah W. Getz and Margaret L. Getz (Mitchell).

He was the beloved husband of Mary Lee Getz and the late Judith A. Getz (Carpenter); loving father to Christine (Tom) Kinnison, Tamara (Colin) Smith, Kimberly (Scott Koziatek ) Udell and Matthew Getz; dear grandfather to Corey and Alyssa Kinnison, Jake and Sarah Smith, and Dylan and Chloe Udell. Cherished brother to Betty Nittler, Winston Getz, and Beverly Gerling. He was a loving brotherinlaw, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Bud lived his life to the fullest with genuine kindess, wisdom, and a strong faith in God. He loved to help others in need.

Those closest to Bud, knew how proud he was to be a Marine. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him. He loved to travel and his favorite place on earth was Estes Park, Colorado. He visited there every chance he got. He loved everything about the Rocky Mountains, horseback riding and cowboy boots. Until a few years ago his passion was flying friends and family in his beloved plane. Nothing made him happier than flying. Bud was a do it all guy who could fix anything and was never too busy to lend a hand to friends and family.

He will deeply missed.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Bud, but I am Mary Lee’s first cousin. She and I grew up together as neighbors and friends. I am sad to hear of Bud’s passing, but now he is at eternal rest and no pains; he is now in heaven with his friends and family members who were called to the High Commands before him. Mary Lee’s brother was the one who told me about Bud’s passing. God Bless Bud, Mary Lee and all of the Getz families. REST IN PEACE Bud. and thanks for serving our country.
