Leo Elliot Stauffer

At 62 years old, Leo Elliot Stauffer, devoted husband, and beloved father, peacefully passed at his home in High Ridge, Missouri on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

To those who knew him, Leo was a world-class, artisan bait chef who spent many of his days catching the biggest trout you’ve ever seen, a consummate storyteller, a surprisingly good drawer, and the guy who could make a friend anywhere. While gruff at times, there wasn’t a child in his presence that didn’t recognize his heart was gold. Leo would have a hard time believing this, but he was a mentor and role model to many acquaintances.

In his earlier years, Leo could be found pestering his favorite sister or making sure he brought home the biggest buck his older brothers had ever seen. Leo was many things to many people, but to our family, he was the one who always put family first and our reason for pushing through life just a little bit harder. There are no words to explain the magnitude in which he will be missed.

Leo is preceded in death by his father, William Lawrence Stauffer, Mother Fern Alma Steck, and brothers Mitch (Bonnie) Stauffer and Dave (Debbie) Stauffer. Leo will be greatly missed by his wife Cynthia Stauffer, his children Janelle (Todd) Randall, John (Kayla) Stevenson, Alyssa (Robert) Stevenson; sister Nadine Bailey; nieces Megan Bailey, Amanda Bailey and Jamie Lewis; nephews William Stauffer and Charlie Stauffer; mother-In law Janice Smith; father-in-law Ron Smith; sister-in-law Melinda (CJ) Sue Olds and brother-in-law Ron Smith.

A celebration of Leo’s life will be held at Suson Park and open to friends and family from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Masks are required and greatly appreciated.

My entire family (Candi, Chris, Charlie,Matt and Kim) are so sorry for your loss. I remember when I first met Leo at a fireworks party, he talked as we had known him forever. He made special provisions so Chris would have a place to park and see the fireworks. Great guy he will be missed! My heart goes out to all of you ????????❤️❤️❤️

Cindy and to all of my extended family from being a Dressel, and also the Stauffer family of families. I am truly sorry for your loss! I did not know Leo, as I know the beautiful words of his obituary is who he was! I know this Cindy, because I know you and being a Dressel you are genuine to where you know when you met Leo. You knew right away that he was genuine and he would bring joy, laughter with lots of fun to your life, which he did and also was a wonderful Father to John, Alyssa, and Janelle. I know we have been separated for decades, which has never ever changed my genuine love to all of you! Thank you for sharing these beautiful memories of Leo with all of your smiles! Leo is in peace!
Sending my love across the vast blue skies!
    Robert
