I met Grandma Lil, she was not Grandma Lil yet as Andy had not been, Thanksgiving weekend 1963, my first away from home. I brought a gift; she handed me a peeler to take on the celery for the stuffing. And so it began.
My friend Lillie Mae was a simple woman but also one of great dignity and presence. She never took herself seriously except when one was audacious enough to challenge her privileges as a mother and grandmother. She always knew who she was, a gift reserved for the few who are self aware. I loved her and will continue to do so as for me she is always in the present. So sorry buddy

These pictures are fabulous! She was a great woman. We are so blessed that she was part of our family. She was such a role model for my girls. They wouldn’t be who they are todAy without her influence. We will miss her dearly. Especially her laugh.
