Linda “Cookie” Hindman

Linda “Cookie” Hindman passed away peacefully on April 5, 2019 at the age of 77.

Cookie was born in Chester, IL on September 20, 1941. She is survived by David Hindman, formerly of Rockwood, IL. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters; Dawn Vandersloot, Melody Green, and Traci Robinson and six grandchildren; Crystal Dour, Danny Dieu, Laura Curry, Jessica Green, Devan Robinson, and Ian Robinson. “Grandma Cookie” is also affectionately remembered by the staff, children and the Holy Cross Lutheran Church family.

Cookie was renowned for her passion for reading and sharing this enthusiasm with children as evidenced by facilitating the creation of six decades of new readers. Additionally, her spirit of volunteerism was critical to the support of athletic programs at both Holy Cross Lutheran School and Metro East Lutheran High School. Her other interests included flower gardening, sewing & crafting, bowling, and being the best grand & great-grandmother. Cookie was as equally known for her quick wit and strong will as well as her love of country music and Elvis Presley.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 11th, 2019 at 2 o’clock p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 304 South St., Collinsville, IL 62234. Food and reception immediately following in the Fellowship Center lasting into the early evening.

Donations to Holy Cross Lutheran School Library in lieu of flowers to honor Cookie’s love of reading would be preferred.

    I HAVE NOT SEEN cOOKIE SINCE ME AN MY LATE HUSBAND MUERL VICKERS RAN AROUND WITH HER AN DAVID BACK IN THE LTE 60S BUT THOUGHT A LOT OF HER SHE WAS ONE OF A KIND, CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY.
