Lisa Louise Polette

07/08/57 – 11/27/25

After a life filled with art, friends, achievements, and significant health challenges, Lisa finally rests in peace.  A graduate of University City High School and the University of Missouri, Lisa worked many different jobs to support herself and her desire for education and independence. Lisa was committed to helping others. She received a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Missouri, which led her to jobs in a variety of settings. She especially loved living in Austin and San Antonio, Texas, embracing the culture to the fullest. While there she worked for Meals on Wheels and traveled to train professionals regarding disabilities.

Lisa had a passion for the arts and produced many of her own works, including paintings, poetry, greeting cards and jewelry. One of her favorite artists was Frida Kahlo. After returning to St. Louis, Lisa enjoyed visiting the Art Museum, the Botanical Garden, Forest Park, and sushi restaurants.  She made many friends in the Lifelong Learning Institute of Washington University where she enjoyed the poetry and writing groups and the weekly “Reading the New Yorker” class.  Lisa also continued to connect with the Austin West End Writers group to keep her creative energy flowing.

Lisa was blessed to have many friends and especially a small group who cared for her through her many health challenges.  She was a kind, thoughtful, interested, curious person with a sharp sense of humor.  She will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy L. (nee Schulte) and Thomas M. Polette and by her brother, Thomas Polette. Lisa is survived by her siblings: Julie, Christine-Marie and Nolan Polette.
