Lola P. Dossett
Lola P. Dossett was born Lola Belle Parrish on August 1, 1932, on a small farm near the town of Louisburg in Eastern North Carolina. Her parents were Archibald and Mary Hubbard Parrish, who had six children. Lola’s brother Arch-Perry Parrish, her sister, Virginia Ruffin Zercher, and step-sister Ida Stuart Perdue predeceased Lola. Of the living are sister Alice Faye Hunter, of Louisburg, N.C., sister Nancy Jean Long of Sacramento, California, and brother Allan Parrish of Louisburg, N.C.
Lola was a precocious child who began reading at an early age. She looked forward to going to school while in session. She graduated from Gold Sand High School in May 1950 with honors and as Salutatorian and was then soon recruited by the F.B.I. and sent to Washington D.C. It was there where she met her future surviving husband Roy Dossett, at the YWCA dance. Lola and Roy were married over 65 years and have three surviving children; daughter Melanie Campbell of Kansas City, MO, son; Timothy Dossett of Ballwin, MO, and daughter Kanina Hadel of Gainsville, TX, with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
After several moves to new locations following her husband’s career, her final residence was St. Louis, MO where she began her new adventure as a real estate agent for Ira E. Berry Realtors, which became Coldwell banker. She worked for over 30 years in this business and became very experienced in the profession. Lola was very proud to be a member of the Creve Coeur Women’s Club, Garden Appreciation Club, and the Bonhomme Republic Women’s Club.
Lola Belle died from pancreatic cancer on June 19, 2021@ 3:30 p.m. and was cremated at her request. A private burial was held.
Sweet Lola Belle will never be forgotten as one who brightened whoever or whatever she touched with her smile and willingness to help in any way she could. Lola will be missed by all her friends and family and especially her first true love, Roy.
