Born on April 19, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Peery and the late Thelma Thomas. Marcie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kim Robin Massingale-Chilton, and her stepson, Roderick Gant.
Marcie built a life rooted in faith, family, and love. She was baptized in the Catholic faith at an early age and graduated from Vashon High School. She continued her education at Harris Teachers College before pursuing a career in cosmetology. Marcie found her calling as a manicurist, a profession to which she devoted more than 60 years. Through her work, she shared her talent and skill while building meaningful, long-lasting relationships.
Marcie was known for preparing delicious meals and impressive spreads for parties, holidays, and family gatherings. She expressed her love through every dish she prepared. Her kitchen and dining table were welcoming places where love was shared, stories were told, and lasting memories were made.
Beyond her cooking, Marcie was known for her impeccable sense of style, thoughtful handwritten cards, words of encouragement, and willingness to listen to anyone who needed a caring ear. Family was at the heart of her life. She taught those she loved the importance of patience, honesty, and showing up when it mattered most. Marcie’s steady heart and comforting presence gave her family a deep sense of safety and belonging.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Fred Massingale Jr.; her son-in-law, Steve Chilton, who was married to her beloved daughter, Kim; her stepson, Norman Gant; her grandchildren, Robin Joseph Chilton (Renee Chilton) and Iren Chilton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Although Marcie’s physical presence will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the family she cherished, the lives she touched, and the countless acts of love and kindness that made her unforgettable.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
