St. Louis Cremation

Margaret Black

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Margaret Blanch Grover Black on August 7th, 2026 surrounded by close family members.

Margaret was born to Seth Bennett Grover, Jr. and Margaret Emma Wright Grover on October 19, 1942 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She joins her parents and older brothers DeRoy and Hugh Grover.

She married the love of her life, James A. M. Black, on October 18, 1969 and shared more than 50 years together before James’ passing in 2010.

The most important thing in Margaret’s life was her family. She raised three sons, Brent (Linda), Mark and Jim (Leah). She enjoyed watching her family grow and leaves behind her children, grandchildren (9 ), great grandchildren (10) and extended family who will carry her memory forward.

Margaret lived a full life but it was not an easy life. Born to a modest farming family, she was a hard worker who never complained. As an adult, she worked at a local grocery store and later owned a small business in the printing industry with her son. In her free time Margaret enjoyed sewing and going to sporting events, especially if it was one a family member was playing in.

If you knew Margaret, you probably knew about two of her favorite things: Cherry Pepsi and Culver’s. A Cherry Pepsi or a trip to Culver’s may seem like a small thing, but those are the kinds of everyday memories that become especially precious after someone is gone. Ultimately it was small things, enjoyed with family, that made her life so full.

Rest peacefully, Margaret. You were deeply loved, you will be deeply missed, and you will always be a part of your family.

A celebration of life will be held on August 21, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints Stake Center at 4511 Butler Hill Rd, St. Louis, Missouri at 10:00am.
