Marian Ann Norton (née Chlystun)

Marian Ann Norton (née Chlystun)
March 23, 1936 – July 9, 2025
Manchester, Missouri

Marian Ann Norton, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, from complications of
lymphoma.

Born in Port Clinton, Ohio, on March 23, 1936, Marian was the daughter of John and Tekla
Chlystun. She was the youngest of five children and is preceded in death by her sister Jara
and her brothers John, Walter, and Joseph.

Marian devoted her life to caring for others. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s
Hospital for more than 40 years, most of that time as Head Nurse of her division. She began
her career at the original St. Luke’s location on Delmar Boulevard and was proud to be part
of the team that opened the hospital’s Chesterfield campus, where she served patients with
compassion and skill until her retirement in 1997.

On December 17, 1960, Marian married Robert Norton, and together they shared 45 years
of love and partnership until his passing in 2005. She was a devoted mother to Douglas
(Dawn) Norton and Thomas (Julie) Norton; grandmother to Clayton (Marija) Norton, Shelby
Norton, Allyssa (Bennett) Stirton, Jennifer (Jason) Cluts, Bridget (Jonathan) Marler, and
Daniel (Sara) Norton. She had four great-grandchildren.

Marian had always cared for others, and for her, the worst part of her illness was having to
be cared for by others. She was fiercely independent and did not want to be a burden on
anyone.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing
her.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to:
St. Luke’s Hospital – Chesterfield, Missouri, in gratitude for the care and community Marian
cherished throughout her life.
