Marilyn Benoist
Marilyn Benoist passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus the morning of Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the age of 88.
Marilyn was born October 26, 1932 in Centralia, IL to Clarence and Mildred (nee Burkett) Gutzler of St. Louis. She worked at Gutzler Bakery, Central Hardware and Wetterau Bakery.
She married the late Jacques “Donald” Benoist in 1950 and together they raised three children Paulette, Mark and Matthew.
Marilyn was a loving wife to the late Jacque Donald Benoist, mother to Paulette (Benoist) Becker (Robert) of Fenton, MO, Mark Benoist (Lyn) of Foley, MO, Matt Benoist (Lisa) of Maryland Heights, MO, mother-in-law to Tamra (Benoist) Lanier (Mark) of Wentzville, MO, grandmother to Michael Becker (Vanessa), Joel Benoist (Kannika), Jordan Benoist, Joshua Benoist, Jenna (Benoist) Maricle (Tim), Matthew Benoist (Jennifer), Tyler Benoist (Ashleigh), great-grandmother to Gavin, Mackenzie, Avary, Zachary, Kinsley, Nolan and James, loving sister to Lowell Gutzler (Barb), loving aunt, cousin and friend to many. Marilyn was the best mother to her children, spending long hours assisting her children with school projects and sports activities and made sure Godly values were a part of their lives by taking them to church. Marilyn showed her unwavering devotion by enduring long hours at the hospital for 1 ½ years during the time her youngest son had leg issues. Marilyn always had a positive outlook on life and never complained about her circumstances of having MS which eventually led to her needing nursing care. Marilyn always enjoyed visits from her family and friends, especially her great-grandchildren, who at times had to visit her through a window pane from the courtyard, due to Covid restrictions. She developed friendships with the people she lived with at the home and the staff. Marilyn was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mildred and Clarence Gutzler, Marilyn was also proceeded in death by her daughter Paulette Joyce (Benoist) Becker and husband Robert.
Services: A private memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Harvester Christian Church in St Charles at 2pm. Address is 2950 Kings Crossing, St Charles, MO 63303. Marilyn, you are truly missed. You were such a good Mother-In-Law to me. The love you had was unconditional. You are now at peace and with so many loved ones you dearly missed here on earth. Until we’re together again….
Lyn and Mark, you did a beautiful job…Thank You…
What a very sweet tribute. Rest in peace, Marilyn
Oh Marilyn I miss you so much!
I loved that day we spent together in Sept 2020, surprised I got to come in & visit, even though it was Hot in that gown, gloves, etc, You were so happy while I was cutting and fixing your hair, you couldn’t wait for Mark to show up later that day! Then I took your picture with your hair done, I’ll always cherish that!
You were also happy to share my Coke A Cola with me! Laying there looking @ my soda while I fixed your hair, and saying, “I’d die for a drink of your soda”, so I went and got you a cup and straw and you about drank all of it, which was fine!
We had fun that day and I’ll always remember your laugh….
I’m glad I called you each week after they shut the beauty shop down in March with Covid, checking on you and laughing,, you kept me updating what was going on, …and of course talk about fixing your hair.
After our visit in Sept, I’d talk to Linda in physically therapy each week, see how you were doing…(since the room you were in didn’t have a phone)…………..
.I was so disappointed when I talked to her 1st part of January and told me you had Passed. I Cried!!!!
I loved you as a 2nd Mother, and I’ll remember all the good times we had in and out of the beauty shop, you were a true friend and a Fine Christian Lady. Your smile will be missed. I love you
