Marilyn Dalton

Marilyn Dalton was our Rock, our Matriarch and the glue that kept our family together for over a half-century.

Grandma to Erica, Ben, Nicole, Ellen and Anna and “Aunt Marilyn” to many.

Marilyn was born on July 12th 1937 in St. Louis, MO to Al and Julia DeBrecht.

She grew up in North City St. Louis and attended Perpetual Help Catholic School.

She was the youngest of the family with sister Dolores Iovaldi (nee-DeBrecht) and brother Al DeBrecht preceding her in Death. Surviving is her sister-in-law Corinne.

She married the love of her life, John “Jack” Dalton and became Marilyn Dalton on November 30th, 1957.

Marilyn leaves behind 3 sons, Andy (Daughter in-law Judy), Marty (Daughter in-Law Jean), and Dave.

All three sons attended St. Joan of Arc school in Southwest St. Louis City where Marilyn and Jack were pillars of the parish.

Marilyn leaves behind many lifelong friends from her St. Joan of Arc days.

After their sons were grown & moved on,

Marilyn and Jack moved to South County and became involved with St. Margaret Mary Alacoque parish.

Marilyn also leaves a legacy in the local restaurant business after working for 30+ years for her nephew, John Iovaldi, at Pietro’s, a south city landmark,

And then becoming part owner with her sons in JackSons’ – a Dogtown restaurant named after her late husband Jack Dalton who died in 1998.

It was always all about Family with Marilyn.

Always being self-less.

She provided many memories passed down through generations around Christmas time with her Xmas eve family gatherings.

She leaves a legacy of warmth and love that will never be forgotten by people knew her.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Parish on Saturday, July 11th at 11 AM. Visitation with Family at 10 AM.

Our hearts go out to the Dalton family in this difficult time of loss. While we’ve only known Mrs. Dalton a few years, she was an absolute joy. She was such a lovely lady (and next door neighbor to us). Always had a smile and a pleasant greeting for my family no matter what she was going through. We will keep the entire Dalton family in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerest sympathies for your loss. . . . Kim and Todd Hasty
