Mark Stelzer

Mark Alan Stelzer of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away on November 24, 2020 at the age of 75. He was born to Ivo and Adele Stelzer in Dayton, Ohio, in 1945. He married the love of his life, Judy Lindeman, in 1966.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Stelzer; his children Kim (Marc) Jalbert, Matthew (M’Liss) Stelzer, Christine (Leonard) Efthim, and Jean (Ronald) Bonkowski; his grandchildren Briton Allen, Trista (Joseph) Stewart, Abigail and Jacob Stelzer, Benjamin Efthim, Garek and Jori Bonkowski; and great-grandson Henry Stewart.

He is also survived by his siblings Judith O’Brien, Donald (Alanna) Stelzer, and Jack (Mary Linda) Stelzer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Bonita Dirkes and Paula Tunney.

Mark obtained his bachelor degree in electrical engineering at University of Dayton and a masters degree at Ohio University. He worked his entire 37-year career for McDonnell-Douglas and Boeing. His memorable contributions include his work for NASA Skylab, the Tomahawk cruise Missile, the Harpoon missile, and the JDAM project. He was lovingly known to his grandchildren as “Pa”.

A memorial service will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Charles F. and Joanne Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.

    Mark was a brother we were so proud of with many outstanding achievements. Although his last years were challenging, the love and caring of his dedicated wife allowed him more time and quality than many with his illness. He will be missed.
