Mark Steven Stone
December 29th, 1956 – February 9th, 2024
On Friday, February 9, 2024, Mark Steven Stone passed away from a sudden illness at the age of 67. He is survived by his wife Anne “Shelley” Stone; sons Matthew (Lauren), Scott (Jennifer), and Trevor (Larissa); and his ten grandchildren: Dylan, Sienna, Brandon, Blake, Juliette, Sullivan, Maxwell, Adeline, Elsie, and Weston. He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Jovata Stone.
Mark was born and raised in Berkeley, Missouri, and after graduating from Berkeley High School in 1975, he attended Missouri State. There he met Shelley, the love of his life. After 4 weeks of dating, Mark and Shelley were engaged, and they married six months later on July 2, 1977. In 1978, Mark joined the St. Louis Carpenters Union, retiring in 2019 from Local 97. In retirement, Mark built their dream home in Farmington, Missouri, to which he and Shelley moved in 2021. As an empty nester, Mark developed a passion for golf, playing and prac- ticing often. Mark and Shelley also enjoyed spending time and working on their acreage near Patton, Missouri, and loved
exploring it with their grandchildren.
Mark was passionate about his family. He and Shelley raised their sons in Maryland Heights, Missouri. Education was one of Mark’s core values, and he was extremely proud that his 3 sons graduated from John Burroughs School and MICDS, and that all three earned post-graduate degrees, as well. While raising their boys, Mark’s nights and weekends were always spent with his family. When the boys showed a passion for basketball, Mark dove in spending countless hours learning, coaching, and watching the boys excel in the sport, culminat- ing in a State Championship.
For Mark, life was family above all else. He was an engaged and loving Papa and a proud, present, and supportive father. In their 46-year marriage, Shelley and Mark meant everything to each other, experiencing a love very few do, side by side throughout, always together enjoying life. Mark will be deeply missed and never forgotten, living on through those he loved.
A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 4:30-6:30pm at the Ridge Room at Telva.
