Mary Ann O’Neill (NEE: Collins)

Mary Ann Beverly O’Neill (nee Collins), 91, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on April 3, 2022.

Mary was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 4, 1930. The youngest of eight children, Mary graduated from St. Margaret of Scotland High School.

She married Brian O’Neill on Oct. 3, 1954, and they were married for 54 years. Like her husband Brian’s, Mary’s Catholic faith was deeply rooted from a young age, and she lived by those principles. Mary and Brian shared a deep love of their children and grandchildren, their faith and, above all, an unbreakable closeness. Simply put, he was her best friend.

Mary was a homemaker most of her adult life and raised four children. Her church-related volunteer activity included teaching young schoolchildren to make rosaries.

In others, Mary treasured honesty, candor, sincerity and a sense of humor: Making others laugh and being made to laugh. She was undeniably blessed with “the gift of the gab,” and she never met a stranger. She’ll be remembered for her friendliness, warmth and kindness.

Mary is survived by her four children, Kathryn (Robert, deceased) Therese DeVoto, Brian Mark O’Neill Jr., Thomas Gerard O’Neill, David Gerard O’Neill; her beloved granddaughters, Melissa, Laura, Julia and Elizabeth; and three great-granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her husband, Brian.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 8 at 10:45 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

The family of Mary O’Neill wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers at St. Louis Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care.
