Mary C. Young

Mary Cecilia Young was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 5, 1971. She was one of the six children born to the late Mary Louise Young. Mary was raised by her grandmother, the late Eliza Young.

She grew up with her family in South Bend, Indiana and later on returned to St. Louis where she attended the St. Louis Public Schools, eventually earning her GED from Jobcorps where she learned her clerical skills.

Mary spent many years hard at work at St. Louis City Hall in the Housing Corps section to earn the money that she needed to raise and care for her only daughter, Tiffany. She was fiercely independent, and amazingly strong. She learned early on how to live without relying on others for help, but despite how many hardships life threw at her, she was still loving and very kind. In her spare time, Mary liked to cook and bake, and was fond of trying out new recipes that she found on the internet. She also like listening to music on her Ipod, and some of her favorite musicians were Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin. Mostly, she was a “homebody” who just enjoyed being at home with her daughter.

Mary entered her eternal rest in the early morning hours of Monday, December 26th, 2017 at her home with her loved ones by her side. She will be truly missed.

Mary leaves behind to mourn her passing: her beloved daughter, Tiffany Adrienne DeShay Robinson and pet kitty Boscoe; her sisters, Gracie Gines, Jacqueline Smith, Carla Young and Rachelle Young; one brother, Eugene Young; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services: A visitation will be held for her on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the chapel of St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave., St. Louis MO 63103.
