Mary Espenschied

Espenschied, Mary (nee Stuart), was fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, on January 23, 2023. Dear mother of Julia (Jim) Pozzo, John Espenschied, and Robert (Ann) Espenschied; beloved grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; dear sister of the late John W. “Bill” Stuart (Ingrid), G. Vincent (the late Maureen) Stuart, Barbara A. Poole, Paul J. (Linda) Stuart. She was a dear aunt, cousin, and friend.

Mary loved her Catholic faith, going to daily mass, and participating in Cornerstone Catholic Scripture Study. She was an avid bridge player and had many endearing friendships. She had a fulfilling career as a copy editor and book production manager, and was well known in the industry as one of the best. While proud of her work achievements, she was most proud of her family. She loved them dearly, and that love was echoed back in return.

At her request, Mary’s body was donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Brentwood, on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. Donations are appreciated to St. Agnes Home, 10341 Manchester Rd., St. Louis, MO 63122, or the charity of your choice.

Our heartfelt condolences to her entire family. We were just trying to find her so we could send a Christmas card. I’m Dennis Duggan, the son of Paul Stuart’s cousin, Edward Price Duggan, who briefly got to know Paul way back when he was in the Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego.
