Mary “May” L. Jasczak
Mary “May” L. Jasczak passed away peacefully on August 03, 2025 at age 95. May was born in Dupont, PA, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Detz) Ritzie. She was a graduate of Dupont High School and Lackawanna Junior College. She was happily married for 66 years to Leonard A. Jasczak, who preceded her in death in 2020.
May and Len resided for 63 years in a home they built in Edison, NJ. Her Catholic faith was central to her life. May and Len were founding members of St. Helena Church in Edison, where May was an active parishioner throughout her lifetime. She worked her church’s Thursday night bingos monthly for over 40 years. After raising her three children, May started her career in the insurance department at JFK Medical Center and worked there for over 20 years.
May loved to spend the day in New York City with family and friends, and especially enjoyed the magic of Broadway and the joy of a good meal. She was an avid NFL football fan and watched Sunday football games with her family each week. May had a great love for animals and nature. No wild animal in her backyard went un-noticed or un-fed. She especially enjoyed feeding the birds and keeping tabs on a groundhog in her yard.
May and Len were very active and enjoyed life, whether they were traveling the world, gathering with family, or playing cards with friends. She had tremendous energy, loved her family, and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She valued her extended family on both sides and remained very close to her three sisters throughout their lives. Many will miss May for her sense of humor, compassion, and interest in others and their stories. She had a remarkable circle of friends stretching far and wide throughout her life.
She is survived by her son Leonard Jasczak Jr and wife Janet of Tampa, FL; daughter Judy Geczi and husband Don of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Jason, Ryan, Melissa, and Kristin; great- grandson Elijah; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Len, son John Jasczak, sisters Connie, Becky, Gene and baby Bernadine, and a brother, Joseph. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her.
The family is deeply grateful for the exceptional and compassionate care provided by the nurses and staff at The Arbors at Mattis Pointe Memory Care over the last four years. The loving way they cared for May will always be remembered. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Dupont, PA on October 10, 2025 at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
It was such a honour to have known May, I’ll forever cherish the memories and laughter we made together. She will forever be in my heart
