Mary Nelson

Mary Nelson, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully 12/28/25 at 3:24 a.m. at Mount Carmel Hospice, surrounded by comfort and compassionate care.

A fierce and loving single parent, Mary dedicated her life to raising her children with strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion. She faced life’s challenges head-on, including bravely fighting two bouts of mouth cancer, showing extraordinary courage and determination throughout her life.

She was the beloved mother and mother-in-law of Chari McKenzie (William), Lucinda Quinn (Thomas), Louis Goldschmidt III (deceased) and Lynnette Clifford.

She was a cherished grandmother to Benjamin Goldschmidt, Jacob Quinn (Nadia), Christina McKenzie-Molitor (Brandon), Jenny McKenzie-Murphy (Brendan), Amanda Quinn-Haislip (Kyle), Danny Quinn (Vanessa), Stephani McKenzie-Smith (Chris), and Louis Goldschmidt Jr.

She was a proud great-grandmother to Branden Woodruff, Malik Quinn, Talen Gittemeier, Riley Quinn, Chloe Molitor, Holden Quinn, Oliver Molitor, Wyatt Haislip and Donovan Quinn.

In her quieter moments, she found joy in the simple comforts of life—watching television with her beloved cat, enjoying 7Up, Tootsie Rolls, peach rings, and always having ice-cold water close by.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary staff at Mount Carmel Hospice, whose kindness, compassion, and dedication ensured her comfort and peace in her final moments.

Mary will be remembered for her strength, perseverance, and deep love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she held so dear.
