Maurice “Maury” Ferguson
passed away peacefully at Promenade Senior Living on 8/20/2025 at the age of 81. He was born in Jefferson City, MO on 5/30/1944.
He was predeceased by parents Maurice B Ferguson and Georgia Ferguson.
He is survived by his life companion of 18 years Carol Raimer (Alpert), also a former classmate. We got reacquainted at our 45 year reunion
Lovingly remembered by his brothers Mark and Michael, nieces Amy Mills Ferguson (Holly) and Jennifer Cira (Curt), and nephews Brian (Katie) and John Ferguson.
Maury graduated from University City High School in 1962 and received an MA from the University of Missouri St Louis.
He served in the army as a commissioned officer in Germany from 1969 until 1971. He traveled around Europe for a year before returning to America. When he came home he started working as a respiratory therapist at BJC Children’s Hospital and St Luke’s Hospital and remained so for many years. He also sold real estate and worked for a medical supply company.
He was a ham radio enthusiast. His passions were biking, camping, nature, and animals. He rarely was without a cat or dog! He loved home projects. For every hammer and screwdriver there were 3 more lurking around. He loved going to the VFW POST 3500 in Richmond Heights. He also enjoyed stand up comedy. He memorized every joke he ever heard and when someone commented on it he said, “I have a million of them.”
A service will be held at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery at 2:30 pm on September 5th
A Celebration of Life event is being planned.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
