Mayda Vigil

Mayda Eulalia Vigil-Fernandez, 76, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on September 3, 2024. A loving wife, mother, sister, and abuela. Mayda’s life was defined by her faith in God and the joy she brought everyone she met. She thought of others first throughout her entire life, starting with her family, whom she loved dearly and sacrificed for daily.

Mayda was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 45 years, Joaquin. Together, they nurtured a loving family, including their three children: Eddie (Jen), Victor (Tori), and Ricky (Charlotte). Her grandchildren were the love of her life. Her already larger than life smile only got bigger when she was with her 4 wonderful grandchildren: Javi, Manny, Nina, and Zoe. Mayda and her only sister, Emilia Fernandez, will forever be in each other’s hearts and souls after 76 years together.

Mayda was a devout Catholic forever dedicated to her church, family, and friends.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Mayda’s life will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024,  at 11:00 am at St. Justin the Martyr Catholic Church, 11910 Eddie and Park Road, St. Louis, MO 63126 with a Celebration of Life immediately following in the St. Justin the Martyr gym. All are welcome at both the Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life. If you are unable to attend the Funeral Mass and would like to celebrate with the family, please feel free to stop by the Celebration of Life from 12:30 – 4 pm as we would love to see you.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Catholic Charities Home – Catholic Charities of St. Louis (ccstl.org) or the American Cancer Society Donate Today | The American Cancer Society. Mayda so deeply appreciated all that Catholic Charities does for the underserved of our community.
