Melvin Volmer

Melvin Volmer passed away on October 21, 2021 at the age of 85.

He was born on January 10, 1936 in St. Louis, MO to Gustav and Alma Volmer. His father was a dentist, and his mother worked in the home.

Mel grew up in Pasadena Hills and graduated from Normandy High School. He went on to the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

In 1961, Mel married Ann Baschen. Mel and Ann had two children, Brian and Kristy. Mel and Ann were happily married until she passed away in February of 1984.

In 1994, Mel married Patricia Hunt and at that time he gained two bonus sons, Brian and Darren Hunt and his first bonus grandson Daniel.

The Volmer / Hunt family enjoyed many years of celebrations, weddings, holidays, golf, world travels, many friends, 8 amazing grandchildren and a precious great granddaughter.

Mel spent 25 years at Travelers Insurance Company in St. Louis. He also owned Travel Concepts with his business partner and friend, Floyd Withers.

Mel is survived by his loving children, Brian (Dana, Aidan and Siena) Park City, UT; Kristy, Phoenix, AZ; Brian (Hella, Tea and Great Granddaughter Lilly) Norway; and Darren (Jessica, Daniel, Westin, Colton, Carson and Lila) Ft. Wayne, IN; and also by his nieces, nephews and friends as well as his Lake Forest family.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Mel and his late wife Patricia who passed away on November 3, 2020.
